Privacy
Etalon does not use website analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing cookies.
What this means
The public marketing pages use no analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party embeds. Etalon uses only the cookies and network requests required for sign-in, account security, subscribing to the Lab, using the Lab, and connecting a Discord account.
Cloudflare processes network information to serve and protect the site. Etalon does not use that information for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Account credentials
An Etalon account stores the email address Google verified, the Google account connection, the Etalon username you choose, and the dates the account was created and last used. Google remains the recovery path for an account that uses password sign-in.
Etalon never stores the password you type. It stores a unique random salt and a slow PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 result used only to check later sign-ins. Staff account pages never show that result, provider subject identifiers, sessions, or device credentials.
A picture is kept for your account, and no page shows it to anyone but you. When you sign in with Google, Etalon asks Google for your profile picture, keeps a copy of it and draws it beside your name. Google sends your name in the same reply; Etalon does not read it or keep it. You can put an image of your own in its place on your Profile, and remove that image again. The copy of your Google picture is replaced each time you sign in with Google. You can also say on your Profile that your Google picture is not to be used: Etalon then deletes its copy and does not fetch the picture when you sign in.
Subscriptions
Two pieces of information exist only because subscriptions are sold here. Each is listed with why it exists, because a field with no stated purpose is one nobody can argue with.
| Discord account | If you connect one, Etalon stores your Discord user id and the username shown at the time, so the customer role can be given and taken back. Disconnecting on the Discord page ends the link and removes the role. Etalon is never sent, and cannot read, anything you post or send on Discord. |
|---|---|
| Subscription | Which Lab plan, what Stripe reports about the state of the payment and the date the current period ends. No card number, expiry, or billing address ever reaches Etalon. |
Using the Lab
The Lab runs on a server Etalon rents from Hetzner, in Finland. What you do there is kept there, filed under an identifier made from your account rather than under your email address, and this site sends that server nothing else about you.
| Projects | The files you write, their saved versions, and each project's settings. |
|---|---|
| Runs | Every backtest you file: when, what it ran on, its result and the engine's log. They are what the monthly number counts and the history the Lab shows you. |
| How long | Until you ask for them to be deleted, at support@etalonterminal.com. Archiving a project hides it without deleting it. |
Writing to support
A message to support is an email, kept in Etalon’s mailbox and read by the people who run Etalon. This site keeps no copy of it.
Stripe
Payment is taken by Stripe on a page hosted by Stripe. Your card details are entered there and are never sent to this site, which is why paying does not load a single third-party script here. Etalon sends Stripe your email address and which plan you are subscribing to, and receives back an identifier for you as a customer and the state of the subscription.
Stripe is a separate company and handles that information under its own terms.
When this changes
Google sign-in and username and password sign-in are already in scope here. This page will be updated before Etalon introduces any new analytics, telemetry, account data, or other data collection.
